Mrs Isa Barr died in June 1963 in hospital in Leeds. She was 37 at the time of her death. Isa was a loving Christian wife to William Hendry Barr, and a loving Christian mother to Edna Barr, daughter, who was only 9 years of age when her mother died. Isa had worked in the Hoover factory in Glasgow before her marriage. Isa, William and Edna lived in Kinloss Place, East Kibride, prior to Edna's mum having to go to Leeds for an operation to do with her heart.
Isa had sisters Edna, Wilma, Agnes, and Jean. Jean being the eldest and Edna the youngest.
Isa had the operation she went in for but lived long enough to thank her surgeon before passing away. Edna is led to believe her mum lived for 24 hours after the operation.
My mum never complained much, even though she was in a lot of pain. Her faith in God and in Jesus was very real to all who knew her. She was an inspiration. She was well loved and respected by her church (Congregational) in the Murray and by all those who knew her in the Choral Society, as well as the neighbourhood of East Mains. She had time to talk to everybody and she cared for everybody she met.
Mother's smiling face and her writing cheerio on the living room window each morning as I went by the living room on my way to Halfmerke Primary School is a picture I cherish for ever.
She is a mother whom you remember who had love for all her family and friends and lived out the gospel life as is written in the New Testament.
Edna, her daughter, also follows Jesus and has Him as her Saviour and Friend. He is the only person who can give any human being new life in Himself and that new life is Life eternal. Jesus did not only come down to earth as a baby but Jesus Himself was and is truly God.
Death is just another path, one that we all must take, all though you are not here you are still with us in our hearts.
